Don’t pay lip service to peace, Warri Monarch tells Youth Presidents

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli has admonished Youth Presidents in Delta State and other parts of Niger Delta not to pay lip service to peace, saying truth is vitally important for peaceful co-existence and everyone should work towards genuine peace building.

The Warri Monarch handed down the advice Monday January 4, 2016 at his Palace in Warri, Delta State when he played host to youth Presidents of Ijaw, Urhobo, Isoko, Ndokwa and Itsekiri ethnic Nationalities.
While blaming politics for the disharmony that occasionally occurs among ethnic groups in Delta State, the Olu advised Youth Presidents in Delta State to communicate more among themselves to erase mistrust and disharmony.

He enjoined the Youth Presidents to carry on the message of peace and unity to all parts of Delta State, adding that the presence of Pere of Ogulagha, Obi of Onitsha, Ooni of Ife and other traditional rulers during his coronation December 12, 2015 was a source of joy to him.

Speaking earlier, President of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Udengs Eradiri stated that the youth Presidents came to seek the fatherly advice of the Olu of Warri with a view to working with him.

The IYC President represented by the IYC Spokesman, Eric Omare who spoke on behalf of Youth Presidents of Urhobo, Isoko, Ndokwa and Itsekiri, explained that the philosophy of the Youth Presidents was to promote ethnic harmony in line with the Olu of Warri promise in his maiden media briefing.

A President of Itsekiri National Youth Council, Comrade Esimaje Awani led the Youth Presidents to the Olu’s Palace.

Our Correspondent reports that Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Youth and Community Development as well as President of Isoko National Youth Assembly Worldwide, Comrade Victor Okemena M. Egbo, President of Urhobo Youth Council and SA to Governor Okowa on Youth and Community Development, Terry Obieh, President of Ndokwa National Youth Movement as well as Aide to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Comrade Benjamin Onwubolu were among youth leaders that paid the solidarity visit to the Olu, who was flanked by prominent Chiefs of Warri Kingdom.
