Don’t pay lip service to peace, Warri Monarch tells Youth Presidents

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli has admonished Youth Presidents in Delta State and other parts of Niger Delta not to pay lip service to peace, saying truth is vitally important for peaceful co-existence and everyone should work towards genuine peace building.

The Warri Monarch handed down the advice Monday January 4, 2016 at his Palace in Warri, Delta State when he played host to youth Presidents of Ijaw, Urhobo, Isoko, Ndokwa and Itsekiri ethnic Nationalities.
While blaming politics for the disharmony that occasionally occurs among ethnic groups in Delta State, the Olu advised Youth Presidents in Delta State to communicate more among themselves to erase mistrust and disharmony.

Olu of Warri-elect performs traditional Iken rites for predecessor

WARRI—THE Olu of Warri designate, Prince Godfrey Ikenwole Abiloye Emiko, yesterday emerged temporarily from seclusion to to lead Itsekiri chiefs in the Iken rites, the traditional escort of a departed Olu, to join his ancestors at the Itsekiri Royal Cemetery.

Prince Emiko, joined by Chiefs of the Traditional Advisory Council, CTAC, led his predecessor, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse II, through Ode Itsekiri, their ancestral home, also known as Big Warri, to Ijala where Ginuwa, the first Itsekiri monarch, was buried and has since become the Royal Cemetery in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State.

The Ologbotsere of Warri which is the highest chieftaincy title in Warri kingdom has long been the desire of Chief Ayiri Emami in the palace even before he was conferred the Uwayiboyami of Warri.

On the day of his chieftaincy confirmation in 2010, Ayiri had told guests who paid him homage at his Ubeji residence, venue of the reception that his new title is closely related to that of his father is proportional to that of the Ologbotsere of Warri and that set his quest for the Ologbotsere title.

The Ologbotsere title which is strictly reserved for Jakpa indigenes has come under scrutiny lately by the chief and his supporters who believes that and Ologbotsere should be someone who is financially rich, politically strong and socially connected.
